On 2009-01-17, Shunde National Industrial Design Base was opened, over 50 design enterprises of Shenzhen firstly joined in. This base has brought another honor to the Capital of Household Electrical Appliances - Shunde.

With a view to develop Shunde’s business, “The Legion of Design” was organized by Ms. Xiang Shuaibing, the chairman of Shenzhen Sphinx Cultural Industrial Investment Ltd. As she says, Shunde is one of the famous production base in the world, which associate with household appliance industry. Moreover, Shunde has been continuing obtained the award of domestic economic development in recent four years. In addition, Shenzhen is recognized as a city that has a plenty of resources of originality of design. Therefore, Shenzhen was successfully gained the honor of the title of “City of Design” from the UNSCEO in 19th Nov, 2008. As a result of that, Shenzhen design enterprises and Shunde household appliance industry decided to set up a cooperative, in order to change “Shunde manufacture” into “Shunde creation”.  

National industrial design and creative industry (Shunde) base is also considered as Shunde industrial design estate, which initially obtained the rights to built industrial design base from State Intellectual Property Office in August, 2008. Besides, due to the fact that “mainly sponsored by government and significantly operated by the professional corporations” has been absolutely agreed as the core mode in developing Shunde industrial design state, 60 billion RMB was invested by the government and Sphinx was recognized as the operator. The leaders of Foshan and Shunde claimed that developing Shunde industrial design estate and cooperating with Sphinx could importantly improve the economic development of Pearl River Delta.        

During 5 years development, Sphinx Cultural Industrial Investment Ltd focusing on exploring the mode of marketing and capital operation associated with Shenzhen industrial design. For example, “City of Design” was successfully and typically built by Sphinx, and it becomes a famous brand that has greatly influenced around the world. So far, Sphinx has become one of the well-known professional operators in China. Brands including China (Shenzhen) “City of Design” Creative Industrial Estate, Brands & Designers China Initiative (BDCI), TaiCang LOFT Creative Industrial Estate and JiangYin International Creative Harbor have been successfully operated by Sphinx. Nowadays, Sphinx is setting up a public service platform for Shenzhen industrial design development.
