On 21st may, Jiangsu (Taicang) LOFT industrial design estate was grandly opened, which convenes over 28 renowned design enterprises at home and abroad such as German Barski design, Hongkong Idencity, Shenzhen Newplan design, Shanghai Moma Design and so on.

This marks Shenzhen” City of Design” radiates its great influence across the Yangtze River Delta and “City of Design” operator Sphinx will take the role of “director” in the play of “Made by Jiangsu” to “Created by Jiangsu”.   

Mr. Wang Rong, Jiangsu provincial party committee member and secretary of Suzhou municipal party committee, visited LOFT to extend sincere congratulations. 

In the afternoon of 21st, More than 100 design talents and CEOs from Germany, Finland, and Australia, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Hang Zhou attend the seminar on Chinese industrial design in Taicang Shidai hotel.     

Four distinguished foreign guests delivered speeches. They are Prof. Ron Nabarro, an executive board member of ICSID, member of judging committee of red dot design award, Dr. Silke Claus, director of NewIDZ and Mr. Eero Miettinen, design director of Nokia Design and Mr. Olaf Barski, president of Barski Design. They carefully analyzed the current situation of Chinese industrial design and proposed some solutions and finally gave a few suggestions for the future development of industrial design.  

Financial crisis forces manufactures in Yangtze River Delta to actively explore the lasting development way. With the aim to further practice scientific outlook on development and implement the strategy of leading manufacturing upgrade and promoting self- innovation, Jiangsu provincial government and Suzhou government delegation came to Shenzhen to seek cooperation with Shenzhen Sphinx Cultural Industry Investment Co., Ltd. The creative industry platform established by “Sphinx” on developing industrial design is taken the industrial design as breakthrough and Taicang LOFT as carrier to form a high class industry cluster to supply innovative design service.

Taicang municipal government spokesman said Jiangsu (Taicang) LOFT industrial design estate landed in Taicang, which is strategy needed for Taicang’s new round economic development. Therefore, at the beginning of this project negotiation, Taicang municipal committee and government established project group, made out special policies and set up industry supporting fund to strength Taicang’s competitiveness and achieve great-leap-forward development from “Made” to “Create”. 

Shenzhen Sphinx president Ms.Xiangshuaibing introduced to us that Sphinx is the first domestic enterprise focusing on industrial design project’s investment and operating and received the title of “China Creative Industry Top 100” and ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) Asian member. Sphinx has successfully operated China (Shenzhen) “City of Design” Creative Industrial Estate, Shunde Industrial Design Park, Jiangsu (Taicang) LOFT Industrial Design Estate and BDCI projects. It has owned three core services: Industrial design resource integration, Industrial design supply chain operation and Industrial design project investment. Taicang LOFT locates at Taicang CBD core area with the coverage of 30,000 square meters and is rebuilt from old stainless steel factory. Sphinx will continually practice “Sphinx Mode” in running Taicang LOFT.   

“Sphinx Mode” is based on promoting Chinese industrial design and manufactures’ connection and a few years’ research on the bottleneck of industrial design development as well as the solutions for industrial design enterprises. There is no doubt that” Sphinx Mode” is complied with market rules and meets the actual needs of industrial design companies. The main content of “Sphinx Mode” is integrating resources, building value-added service platform, promoting connection of manufactures and industrial design and cultivating industry cluster. Taicang LOFT orientates to industrial design and takes international renowned designers and brand design enterprises as the main body. Taking root in Taicang, connecting Shanghai to serve south Jiangsu manufactures, Taicang LOFT aims to bring “Sphinx Mode” into Yangtze River Delta, build public service platform for connecting design and manufactures and provide settled enterprises with six services including trade service, financing service, intellectual property protection and transformation , talents training and brand promotion service. 

As we all know, Taicang is known as the hometown for foreign-owned enterprises.
However, it also has lots of local OEM enterprises there. This suggests that Taicang has owned rich manufacturing resources; also it’s no difficulty to find the terrible condition of its manufacturing in terms of R&D design and marketing. To turn this situation around, Sphinx will firstly convene a few industrial design-led companies in Taicang LOFT and then establish a service platform to promote connection of first settled design enterprises and south Jiangsu manufactures with the strong support of government policies and fund.       

There is no more a dream for manufacturing enterprises especially the small and medium-sized enterprises to own their brand and market channel. Sphinx can help to realize it through providing services like product innovation, brand innovation and strategic design.      

At the opening ceremony of Jiangsu (Taicang) LOFT Industrial Design Estate, 
Jiangsu science and technology department issued a medal with “Hi-tech Innovation Service Center” to Taicang LOFT. It makes Taicang LOFT become the first Hi-tech Innovation Service Center centered in industrial design. In the future, Taicang LOFT will be sure to attach importance in science and technology, make full use of technology resources and carrier advantage to realize the R&D redesigning on concept, technology and product and eventually achieve industry value-added.
