Inclusive Design of UK Designers

Gero Grundmann
Gero Grundmann is a multidisciplinary designer with a strong interest in inclusive design. He runs the London-based design office Studio Bec – Design Communication Translation and develops products. Gero teaches at a number of UK design schools and has co-authored a new MA design programme for Norwich School of Art & Design. He holds an MA in Communication Art and Design from the Royal College of Art and a Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists. He is a former Research Associate of the Helen Hamlyn Centre.

David Hamilton
David studied Product Design at Glasgow School of Art and then a master degree in Industrial Design from the Royal College of Art.  David has worked for Priestman Goode for 11 years. David takes a leading role in many of the large-scale projects that Priestman Goode undertakes for clients such as Embraer and Airbus. He also leads on packaging projects and has experience working with Lever Faberge, Boots and Marks & Spencer. David worked with the Helen Hamlyn Centre on the DBA Inclusive Design Challenge in 2000.

Guy Robinson

Guy trained as a Manufacturing Engineer at Cambridge University on the MET course. He followed this with a 2 year MA in Industrial Design, jointly taught by the Royal College of Art and Imperial College in London. Inclusive design featured strongly in the College and as a Research Associate for the Helen Hamlyn Centre, his revolutionary sports crutches won him a Dyson Award, a Future Product Award from NESTA and became an exhibit in London's Science Museum. Guy started Sprout Design in 2004 with Robert Brown to commercially explore inclusive and sustainable design methodologies. Sprout was the winner of the 24hr Inclusive Design Challenge in 2007.

Alistair Russell
Alistair has over 10 years design experience. He has worked in Europe and the Asia Pacific region, creating three dimensional design solutions that effectively communicate brands. His work stretches across FMCG packaging, point of sale and retail environments for global brands. He has worked on projects for Carlsberg, Diageo, P& G, Boots, Virgin, Kraft, Jacob Suchard and Unicorn Bots.

Matthew White
Matthew White studied Industrial Design Engineering at the Royal College of Art and became a Research Associate for the Helen Hamlyn Centre in 2000. His main client is B&Q plc, and two power tools he further developed into the Sandbug and Gofer are currently on sale in B&Q stores around the world as are garden products he designed and which have been launched by B&Q in the UK market. In Europe and the Far East, Matthew works directly with manufacturers to develop products generating commercially viable and innovative concepts and developing them into well engineered and well designed products.

Matthew Wright 
Matter
After four years at Brunel University studying Product Design, which included placements at DCA and Pentagram, Matt graduated with a First Class BSc Honours degree and joined the npd department at Dyson. 
He started Matter and designs innovative products and structural packaging for world-leading brands across the office furniture, office products, food and drink and personal care sectors, for clients such as Reckitt Benckiser, ACCO, Herman Miller and Diageo.As part of their commitment to being responsible designers, Matter took part in the DBA Inclusive Design Challenge 2006 with their inclusively designed fire extinguisher, Houdini.
