Beijing (China) - In order to integrate science, future and the beauty of a harmonious society, and to improve the innovation and development of the global car industry, FOTON, in collaboration with China Auto Design Education Alliance (CADEA) and Horizon Progress Strategy Consulting Co., Ltd. (PROGRESS), has announced the first "Science & Future" International Concept Car Design Contest.

The global economic crisis emphasises the responsibility that enterprises have the to securing the future prosperity of society. The development strategies that we set up today will help achieve the social harmony we need in the future. It is thus important that we defend our future with technology and create a beautiful world of harmony.

At the Launch Ceremony (shown above) for this Icsid endorsed event on 27 August 2009, the organising committee emphasised the competition's aims to promote the sound and rapid development of the world automobile industry under the banner of "promoting the car culture, exploring design talents, improving the research capabilities, and serving the automotive industry".

Call for entries
Car design agencies, design schools and designers from all over the world are invited to join in this international festival of car design. The call for entries will run from now until 20 October 2009.

The judging panel for "Science & Future" International Concept Car Design Contest includes well-recognised, international car designers, journalists in the car design sector, domestic experts from design institutions and authorities from domestic car design associations. This includes the likes of Fabrizio Giugiaro, Vice-president and Director of Design Center of international top auto design unit Italdesign-Giugiaro; Carlos Hinrichsen, President of International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid); Orazio Fusetti Daldosso, Executive Advisor on Design and Technology of Italy TESCO Auto Design Corporation; Umberto Palermo, Chief Designer of I.de.A Design Institute; etc.

In total, there will be ten grand awards and twenty shortlisted awards. Besides the intriguing cash bonus, the grand award winners will also have a lifetime experience to show the models of their designs at the 2010 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
