BCN Design Week 2009, from 26-30 October, Expects Largest Number of Participants

Barcelona (Spain) - BCN Design Week is running from 26-30 October, positioned to become one of the leading platforms for promotion and debate in the design sector, a must-attend event on the international agenda.
This fourth congress, within the context of the Innovation Festival Barcelona, is aimed at companies from diverse production and service sectors, as well as professionals and experts from the design world, who will meet on this platform for the exchange of experiences where the emphasis will be on deepening knowledge in diverse topics.
Over a week, the BCN Design Week will hold several sessions participated by professionals and experts such as Gus Rodríguez (Phillips Design), Sue Siddall (IDEO), Matt Barthelemy (Smart Design), Xavier Berneda (Munich), Adam Greenfield (Nokia), Willem Boijens i German Leon(Vodafone), Brian Fling (pinch/zoom), Timo Arnall (Oslo School of Architecture and Design) or Michael Thompson (Design Connect).
The stages of various of the activities of this 2009 edition are were the CaixaForum, the MACBA, the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion and the Casa Llotja de Mar.
This year's BCN Design Week is especially timely thanks to two events that are being promoted by the European Commission. The first of these is the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009, organised under the slogan "Imagine. Create. Innovate." This initiative is intended to raise awareness of the importance of creativity and innovation as strategic factors in personal, social and economic growth. The second is the Innovation Festival Barcelona, which features various events and activities related to creativity, design, innovation and knowledge with the aim of giving the general public insights into these concepts.
A few days before the opening of this fourth event, BCN Design Week 2009 has now surpassed the number of registrations reached in the three previous congresses. It aims to attract a thousand participants.
The BCN Design Week, organised yearly by Icsid Promotional Member, BCD Barcelona Design Centre, is an international business focused congress framed in the field of design and aimed at those companies and professionals in any industry or productive services that use knowledge and creativity as a driver of its business activity.
BCD Barcelona Centre de Disseny, is a promotional design centre which was set up in 1973. Its mission is to promote design into business as a strategic tool for innovation and competitiveness. BCD has the support of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, the Catalan Government, the Barcelona City Council, the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.
