Boston (United States) – Last year's DMI Re-thinking...Design conference introduced the design community to top thought leaders on Design Thinking, through deep, insightful conversations. This 16-17 June, the design and business community will gather again in San Francisco to continue the conversations at Re-thinking...the future of Design.

DMI's Design/Management Thinking 22 conversational-format conference will move beyond philosophical arguments on Design Thinking: it will grapple with the real changes in the expectations that all types of organisations are beginning to have about the Designer's potential level of contribution - and the implications for professionals.

Roger Martin, author of the acclaimed new book, The Design of Business: Why Design Thinking is the Next Competitive Advantage, Darrel Rhea, one of today's design opinion leaders, as well as DMI's Thomas Lockwood will return to design, moderate, question and instigate at this innovative event.

Content will include leading-edge practices from the point of view of executives who are applying Design Thinking to transform their organisations. Participants will hear from the best in both the Design world and business and design education as they discuss what is changing in the field, and the dramatic response from academic institutions. "Agents and Engagers" include Roberto Verganti, Professor, Management of Innovation, Politecnico di Milano; Randy Swearer, Provost, Philadelphia University; Nathan Shedroff, author of Design is the Problem; Kyung-Won Chung, Vice-Mayor, Seoul, Korea; and more to be announced soon.

  1. Re-thinking...the future of Design, will be held 16-17 June at the W Hotel in San Francisco. Information, including registration can be found at www.dmi.org/designthinking
