Mr. Ma Kai, Vice-Premier of CPC, Inspected Shenzhen “City of Design”

On the morning of March 26, Mr. Ma Kai, vice-premier of CPC, accompanied by Mr. Hu Chunhua, secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, inspected Shenzhen “City of Design” Creative Design Industrial Estate. Ms. Xiang Shuaibing and Mr. Liuyongli, respectively the president and the CEO of Shenzhen Sphinx Group which is the operator of “City of Design”, reported “City of Design” operating innovation, Sphinx Group development plan and other items.

In the conference, Mr. Liu Yongli said that “City of Design” is the current domestic largest mono industry design park, and it is also the bearing result of “Sphinx 2.0 mode”, moreover, it represents the development trend of China industrial design 2.0 era and the start of innovative development of domestic creative design industry park. In order to promote the upgrade and development of creative design industry, Sphinx proposes the 3.0 mode combining innovation with online & offline service based on the 2.0 mode, which lead creative design industry into the age of big data. Mr. Liu Yongli further elaborated for Mr. Ma Kai the ten-years-old development of Sphinx and the trend of cultural innovation and design service industry, and he proposed several suggestions on better promoting industrial design with specialization and internationalization.
After listening to the related report, Mr. Ma Kai gave a keynote speech. He pointed out that design industry is the new emerging industry, which is not only essential for driving industry in our country to develop at the high-end industry chain, but also plays an important role in the process of transforming direction and structure of our social economy. Mr. Ma Kai also said that design industry has been brought in the system of policy-support-development by national system, so its market space will be broader. He addressed that the initial condition of industrial design is the integration of artists, and artistic designing is the form. During the slow progress of industrialization and commercialization in the market, the form of industrial design has been built. And nowadays, the core competitiveness has evolved into design competitiveness, business model competition and management innovation competence. The heart of market competition is not only the technology innovation, more important, is the management innovation. In another word, the management innovation is used to drive technology innovation.
Mr. Ma Kai gave a positive evaluation on the practice and success of Sphinx’s business model & management innovation. He indicated that correlated departments of Guangdong government should provide good-quality service and carefully understand and commit the spirit of the lately published policy document by the State Department on integration between culture creativity & design service and their related industries to guarantee a healthy and sustainable development.

Mr. Ma Kai, with Mr. Hu Chunhua’s companion, visited German iF “water saving design” main exhibition in “City of Design”. Xiang Shuaibing and Liu Yongli made an introduction on design product innovation and market situation. National relevant ministries and commissions, Guangdong & Shenzhen governmental main leaders accompanied them to the visit.
